Both my husband and I are agnostic but I was raised Catholic and attended Catholic schools through college. So, when we come upon these otherwise religious holidays, while I am fine that my son's school teaches that Christ is risen (in the case of Easter), it is not what we'll be celebrating at home. So today when my 5 year old asked why the Easter bunny comes my response was that he (and, after I used the pronoun, I wished I'd picked 'she' (why do men get all the glory?)) comes by to help children celebrate Spring which when the weather warms, and the flowers bloom. It sufficed for him and for me.

I think it will be far more complicated explaining why we don't 'believe' as he gets older, but the truth will always prevail. It Is What It Ishttp://itiswhatitisorisit.net/noreply@blogger.com
